LONG ISLAND LANDSCAPES AND THE WOMEN WHO DESIGNED THEM

Records show that half of the private gardens laid out on Long Island during the Golden Age of country homes (ca. 1890-1940), and even a few significant public landscapes, were designed by women. The work of six of these women is closely examined here in beautiful black and white photographs.
