Novel. In 1916, Sven leaves his life in Stockholm to seek work in Svalbard. But his time as a miner ends when an avalanche nearly kills him, leaving him disfigured, after which he flees even farther, to an uninhabited fjord. There he builds a hut and lives with only his dog for company, testing himself against the elements.
