ROELANT SAVERY'S WONDROUS WORLD

A trailblazer, Roelant Savery pioneered several new genres in Dutch painting. He was a highly versatile draughtsman and painter, specializing in landscapes, animal scenes and flower still lifes. With encyclopedic precision, he depicted countless different species but also people from various regions. Savery became the painter of the extinct dodo from Mauritius.
